STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -
A 20-year-old foreign exchange student currently residing in Stafford County has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault on April 19.
The Stafford County Sheriff's Office reports Hamad Mastour Alsuwat was arrested Sunday, April 21. On April 19, Stafford Deputy Thomas Grasso responded to a Stafford County residence for reports of a possible domestic disturbance.
In the course of the investigation, Deputy Grasso learned that Alsuwat, a foreign exchange student currently residing in Stafford, had sexually assaulted a 17-year-old female resident of the home. Alsuwat was not present on the scene when Deputy Grasso arrived.
Stafford authorities then contacted the Department of Homeland Security, in case Alsuwat became a flight risk. Members of U.S. Customs and Protection arrested Alsuwat as he was preparing to board a flight from Dulles International Airport bound for Saudi Arabia.
Alsuwat is charged with one count object sexual penetration.
