In just under a week, the lights will be bright at the Richmond International Raceway and the track will be ready for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
Preparation measures are in full swing with new signs, displays and paint jobs at the racetrack. Some of the signs at the track are being painted green and new trees are being planted as part of an initiative to reduce the carbon footprint of the sport’s massive events.
“The sport is very focused on sustainability and we’re doing everything that we can do to promote green initiatives,” said Richmond International Raceway President Dennis Bickmeier.
With such a big event heading Richmond’s way, the folks at Richmond International Raceway are busy getting ready and it is sure to be a memorable weekend of races.
“The place is really electric. There aren’t a lot of racetracks where you’re literally sitting on top of the racetrack like you are here,” Bickmeier said. “NASCAR picks up the show and moves it week to week. They do it 36 times and we’re up next!”
