‘Suspicious Person’ Prompts Lockdown at Orange Co. Schools

ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -

Gordon-Barbour Elementary School in Gordonsville will remain in a “modified lockdown” for the remainder of the school day Wednesday, due to reports of a “suspicious person” in the immediate area.

Police are investigating the incident. Earlier in the afternoon on April 23, Gordon-Barbour Elementary was in a “Code Red” lockdown, according to an announcement on the Orange County Public Schools website. All other schools in the district were on a modified lockdown that has since been lifted.

OCPS reports that all staff and students are safe, and that all school schedules and activities will continue as scheduled. Those with questions should call 540-661-4550.

Gordon-Barbour Elementary serves students in Kindergarten through fifth grade and is located at 500 W. Baker St., Gordonsville, VA 22942.
