HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) - Highland Springs High School was placed on lockdown for nearly two hours Wednesday afternoon, after police found a loaded handgun in a vehicle in the school's parking lot. There were no injuries.

The incident began when a Henrico Police School Resource Officers recieved information that a student may have had a weapon on school property, located at 15 South Oak Avenue.

Officers then located a loaded handgun inside a vehicle in the school's parking lot, which prompted school officials to enact a lockdown around 2:15 p.m. The school lockdown was lifted around 3:45 p.m.

There are no reports of injury, or that the gun was used in a threatening manner.

Police are questioning two persons of interest, both males, one 17 years old and the other 18 years old. At this time, no charges have been filed.

Henrico Police say Highland Springs High School Resource Officers will continue investigating the incident. Stay with ABC 8News for updates.
