HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -

The Hopewell Police Department is investigating after extensive graffiti was discovered on the grounds of Hopewell High School on Monday morning.

On May 5, students, parents, faculty and staff arrived on campus to find graffiti sprawled across the doors and exterior walls of the school, as well as on a school bus. One message clearly reads “PHS 2014.” Others say “FLO$$ Zone 7” and “F**k U.” Several other messages were illegible.

Hopewell Police are investigating the incident, but have not released any other details about the vandalism at this time. According to the Code of Virginia 18.2-138, damaging public buildings and materials in libraries and schools is specifically prohibited.
