HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -
Henrico and Richmond police are investigating a bank robbery at the Village Shopping Center in Henrico County on Tuesday afternoon.
The Franklin Federal Savings Bank branch on the 7000 block of Three Chopt Road was robbed around 1:30 p.m., according to police.
A single suspect, wearing a zip-up hoodie and a medical mask, brandished a hand gun. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, which was recovered about seven blocks away abandoned.
Police are still searching for the suspect.
St Christopher's School and St. Catherine's School were advised by Richmond Police to go into cautionary lockdown due the robbery. The lockdowns have since been lifted.
Police are also investigating a carjacking near the Arby's on Quioccasin Road and Starling Drive that happened prior to the bank robbery. The car taken by the Arby's was recovered around an hour later a few blocks away, near the intersection of Ripley Avenue and Stuart Street.
Police are not linking the two together at this time and are investigating them a separate incidents.
