RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -
A 17-year-old who was shot in the back at a Richmond apartment complex is expected to recover.
The shooting happened around 9:30 Thursday night at the Midlothian Village Apartments off of Midlothian Turnpike.
Police say the victim was shot in the back with shotgun pellets. He then walked to a home on Payton Avenue where he called 911.
The teen was taken to VCU Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
Richmond police say they were called to the apartment complex just before the shooting for reports of random gunfire.
