RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond's skyline will be a lot brighter this Memorial Day weekend. Rocketts Red Glare, sponsored by The Boathouse restaurant and benefiting Connor's Heroes, will bring free fireworks and live entertainment to Rocketts Landing on Sunday, May 25.
Rocketts Red Glare begins at 5:30 p.m., with a performance by local musician Colin Healy. Virginia party band Kings of Swing will take the stage at 6:30 and play throughout the fireworks show, which begins around 9.
"Rocketts Red Glare has become a great, family-friendly event for Richmond," said Kevin Healy, owner of The Boathouse restaurant, this year's title sponsor. "In 2013, about 6,500 people came to Rocketts Landing to enjoy fireworks along the banks of the James River. We're looking forward to welcoming more Richmonders this year."
Several food trucks will be on-site, including Mosaic, Goatocado, Slideways, Casa del Barco, the Hungry Turtle, Halligan Bar and Grill, Kona Ice, King of Pops and Zzaam.
Wine and craft beer will be available, with a portion of proceeds going to Connor's Heroes, a nonprofit dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through direct assistance, awareness and research. Picnic baskets are welcome, along with chairs and blankets for seating. Parking is free.
Rocketts Red Glare is free for all ages and will take place along the banks of the James River at Rocketts Landing.
