GWAR Lead Singer Dave Brockie Died of Heroin Overdose

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Dave Brockie, lead singer of Richmond-based shock-rock band GWAR, died of an accidental heroin overdose, according to the State Medical Examiner's Office.

The Medical Examiner's official cause of death is acute heroin toxicity and the manner of death is accident. 

Brockie was found dead on Sunday, March 23 when Richmond Police were called to a residence on the 4800 block of West Seminary Avenue for a report of a deceased individual.

Brockie, also known as Oderus Urungus, was well loved in Richmond and around the world and his death sent shockwaves through the music community.
