Richmond officials are warning residents about a phone tax scam
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -
Richmond officials have a warning about a phone tax scam going around the city. This comes after several reports of people posing as collection agents, calling folks trying to collect your credit card information. Many of them claim there was a problem with a payment or you have outstanding bills.
If a taxpayer receives a call that they feel is not legitimate, or has questions regarding their account balances, they should call the City of Richmond customer care line at 3-1-1 (804-646-7000). Finance representatives can review customer accounts and if an outstanding balance is due, can refer customers to the proper collections agency.
