RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - The Richmond Police Department has arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a robbery and shooting that occurred in the Mosby neighborhood last month.

Around 10:24 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, police were called to the 1400 block of Coalter Street; they arrived to find a man shot. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to VCU Medical Center.

Neighbors say they heard a single gunshot and saw the victim stagger out of his apartment, holding his hand over his chest area. They then saw the victim scream for help before he fell to the ground. Witnesses say they didn’t see anyone else leave the residence.

With the help of the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force, RPD detectives arrested Marquez R. Taylor, of the 1600 block of Glenfield Avenue, in connection with the May 18 incident. Taylor is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, probation violation and trespassing. Additional charges are pending.

Detectives say they were able to make the arrest with the help of information received from the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers tip line. Anyone with information about local crime is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 804-780-1000 or texting “iTip” followed by the tip to 274637.
