8-year old Kaylie-Jade Plott from Henrico County will be one of the only American spectators allowed on the field during the World Cup Finals.
She is one of only 25 kids who will get to escort a world cup player onto the field. And in her case, she will get to do it during the world cup finals.
Kaylie-Jade's mother, Jamie Williams, entered into a sweepstakes through McDonald's Player Escort Program and never thought she would win.
"You don't think you're going to win those things. Oh my... Wow, I almost fainted," she says.
A few days later, Williams took her daughter to the Mechanicsville McDonald's when she walked into a party all for her.
"First we went to McDonald's to eat and then I found out. And I got an escort by Ronald McDonald!" Kaylie-Jade says.
In addition, the two won $1,000 to be donated to a local soccer club and they chose the Richmond Strikers.
The two will stay in Rio de Janeiro for five days and will get to meet the two final teams before Kaylie-Jade will walk a player onto the field. The mother-daughter team, as they like to call themselves, had been through what Williams calls a tough personal time, but says this trip couldn't happen to a sweeter child.
"I'm so excited for her," she says. "The memories she'll be able to have with mommy."
They head out on July 9 for the finals. Kaylie-Jade says she hopes Team USA will be playing. Copyright 2014 by Young Broadcasting of Richmond
