Chesterfield Mother Charged in Death of 2-Year-Old Left in Car

Police have arrested and charged a Chesterfield mother after an incident that resulted in the death of a 2-year-old girl.
Tabitha A. Inge, the child's mother, has been charged with felony child neglect in relation to the incident. Inge, 28, was arrested on Thursday evening, June 19. Inge is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
At about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 6700 block of Jefferson Davis Highway for a report of a 2-year-old girl who was not breathing. The child, Mikayla J. Thurston, of Richmond, was transported to VCU Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation indicates the child was left unattended in a vehicle and her head and neck became trapped between the car's window and door frame.
