Police have taken a Spotsylvania man into custody for allegedly sexually attacking a seven-year-old boy at the Indian Acres campground on Sunday.
On June 15, Spotsylvania Deputies responded to a 911 call at Indian Acres campground, located in the 6400 block of Morris Road. The caller said that his son, who is seven, had been sexually attacked by an unknown man who brandished a knife in the bathroom. The incident happened near the spot where the victim's family was camping for the weekend.
Indian Acres security personnel had already begun securing the perimeter of the campground and checking vehicles when deputies arrived. They searched for a vehicle matching the description given to them by the victim and his brother, who had witnessed the suspect jump into a pickup truck and flee the scene.
The victim was also able to provide deputies with a detailed description of what the suspect was wearing.
Ultimately, the suspect was located in Indian Acres on Thursday, June 19. He was still wearing the same clothing that the children described to deputies. The suspect also had the distinctive knife described by the victim and his brother.
Edward Alsop, 49, was charged with felony aggravated sexual battery and misdemeanor assault and battery. He is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail with no bond.
