SALEM, N.J. (AP) - Police in southern New Jersey say the woman wanted in the videotaped beating of a mother in front of her child has surrendered.

Salem Police Chief John Pelura III says 25-year-old Latia Harris turned herself in on Monday. She remained jailed Tuesday on $20,000 bail, and charged with aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.

Police have been searching for Harris after the videotape surfaced in which authorities say she pummeled the mother of a toddler in the face and kicked her in the back along a trail in Salem last Tuesday.

Several people watched as the assailant also threatened to attack the victim's 2-year-old son, who yelled and kicked the suspect's legs in a futile effort to stop the violence.

Police obtained the video before it was removed from Facebook.
