New, Interactive Website for Where the Winds Blow Goes Live
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) July 03, 2014
For a little over a decade, Where the Winds Blow has been the prime provider of Mah Jonng-related products in the Houston metropolitan area. And now the Katy-based company has announced the launch of a new website that would make it easier for customers to browse through its diverse inventory.
Mah Jonngalso known as mahjong or majaingis a board game that originated in China, and it has been around since about 500 BC. It was first mentioned in Western accounts in the early 17th century, and it eventually made its way to the United States in the 1920s. Mah Jonng steadily gained popularity soon after a civil engineer by the name of Joseph Park Babcock created a simpler version of the game and published an instructional book called Rules of Mah-Jongg. Today Mah Jonng typically involves four players, each of who get 13 tiles. Players draw and discard titles until they use the 14th drawn tile to complete a legal hand by forming four groups (melds) and a pair (head).
At the new Where the Winds Blow website, customers can pick from a variety of game cases and sets, each with its distinctive design. They include wheeled micro-fiber cases, zip lock bags, map-imprinted cases, five-drawer chests, alligator-patterned cases, and velour bags.
Customers also have the choice of designing their own sets for $99.99. The custom set would include a choice of tiles, racks with brass ends, dice, and velour bag (which can be in red, green, blue, black or silver). Additional options available include a combo rack for $18, wheeled canvas case for $10, and bag embroidery for $12. The website also provides a game accessory section for a wide variety of items that include tile trays, cup holders, betting wheels, Chinese coins, and counting sticks. People less familiar with the game can order the Mah Jongg Teaching DVD, which has a retail price of $34.95.
Where the Winds Blow also sells a variety of items that are not game pieces, but are inspired by Mah Jonng. They include bracelets, charms and pendants, earrings, eyeglass holders, necklaces, pins, watches, party supplies, computer accessories, and napkins and towels.
