?MIDDLESEX, VA. (WRIC) - The pilot of a single-engine plane killed when it crashed in Middlesex County Sunday has been identified. A passenger in the plane was also injured. Virginia State Police have named the pilot as 58-year-old Stephen L. Myers of Christiansburg, Virginia.
The two-seater 1968 Cessna plane went down around 4:43 p.m. Sunday at 52 Lockleys Creek Road in Middlesex County, the county's emergency coordinator, Mark Nugent, confirmed.
A passenger, who suffered critical injuries, was flown to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries and has been identified as Misty Dawn McIntyre, 48, of Newport, Virginia.
State police are leading the investigation, along with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety board have been notified.
