Police say it appears a young woman became trapped as she tried to stop her car from rolling downhill Friday morning; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say a neighbor was outside walking and saw a person on the ground. The neighbor called police, who arrived on scene around 8 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found a deceased woman's body pinned under a silver Honda that appeared to have rolled into a ditch in a front yard.
Further investigation revealed that the car, which has a manual transmission, was in neutral and its parking brake was not applied.
A release from Chesterfield County Police identifies the victim as 23-year-old Amber H. Hernandez and reads in part:
"It appears the victim, Amber H. Hernandez, tried to stop the vehicle as it rolled down a slight grade and was pinned under the vehicle."
Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.
