RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -
It will be a partly sunny, hot and humid day with highs in the middle 90s. A weak cold front to our north and west will help to create some thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Some of those thunderstorms will be strong to severe with heavy downpours, gusty winds and frequent lightning. The best time frame for thunderstorms today is from 3 to 9 pm.
Our skies will become partly cloudy tonight and it will be muggy with lows in the upper 70s.
Tuesday will start off with some sunshine and it will be hot and humid again with highs in the lower 90s. We expect another round of rain and thunderstorms from 2pm to 10pm on Tuesday. There is a good chance that some of those thunderstorms will become severe with gusty winds, hail, heavy downpours and frequent lightning.
Our weather will become quieter for Wednesday and Thursday with sunny to mostly sunny skies and highs in the middle to upper 80s with lower humidity. The heat and humidity will creep up a bit on Friday with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 under partly sunny skies. There is a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm or two.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the summer pattern kicks back in; leading to partly sunny skies with highs in the lower 90s and a chance of scattered afternoon thunderstorms.
