Second Suspect Arrested in East End Homicide

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - A second arrest has been made in an East End shooting on June 24 that left a man dead; police are still searching for a third suspect.

Joevontae Octavian Artis, of Richmond, surrendered to police Monday afternoon. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the homicide.

Officers were called to the 800 block of North 21st Street for reports of random gunfire. Upon their arrival, they found Jay Q. Wood of Richmond, 47, suffering from gunshot wounds. Mr. Wood died at the scene.

Shaquille Juwan Carter, 20, is still wanted in connection on conspiracy to commit murder charges in the crime.

Another man, 21-year-old Trevin K. Carter of Henrico was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. This arrest was made a few days after the homicide.
