RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Richmond Police credit Facebook with helping them identify a man they say stole $15,000 worth of copper planters from the Jefferson Hotel last week.

According to detectives, sometime between 3:49 p.m. on July 9 and 7:10 p.m. on July 10, an unknown person stole six copper planters from the Jefferson Hotel, located at 101. W. Franklin Street.

Richmond Police posted a surveillance image of the person on their Facebook page Monday. Within an hour, a Facebook fan called detectives and identified the man seen in the photo.

The next day, the man, Brandon R. Slaughter of Glen All, 26, surrendered to police and was charged with grand larceny in connection to the theft of the planters.
