CULPEPER, Va. (WRIC) -- -
Five people were found dead in their home this morning in Northern Virginia. A man, woman and three children all had apparent gunshot wounds.
A press conference Monday morning revealed the names of the adults who were found dead in the Rixeyville Road home Sunday evening: Clarence Washington and Shauna Washington, both age 35.
The children, ages 4, 16 and 13, were found in a different part of the home, all dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Five people were found dead at a home in Culpeper County in an apparent murder-suicide. At the Monday press conference, police revealed that the weapon believed to have been used in the incident has been recovered.
Police also said the couple, Clarence and Shauna, had known domestic issues, although there were no previous calls for service to the home for any violent incidents.
The last known contact with the family was Sunday at 5 p.m. Family member asked for a welfare check that evening and a sheriff responded, but did not force entry into the home as nothing suspicious was observed.
A family member discovered the bodies around 10 p.m. Sunday night.
All of the deaths are being investigated as homicides; Virginia State Police are assisting in the investigation.Stay with 8News for updates on this developing story.
