Maryland Murder Suspect Apprehended In Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -
A man wanted in connection with the murder of two Maryland women was found in a Sussex County town and apprehended during the day on Saturday.
Sussex County Sheriff's Department Detective Derrick McKenzie said that deputies were able to find and arrest 54-year-old Malcolm Thomas in an apartment complex in Wakefield near the borders of Sussex and Surry Counties.
Prince George's County law enforcement reached out to Sussex County officials asking them to be on the lookout for Thomas who was wanted in connection to the murders of two women in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
The bodies of the women were found inside a home in Oxon Hill after police received a call to dispatch to do a well-being check at the home.
said that Thomas remains in police custody as he awaits extradition back to Prince George's County in Maryland.
In addition, Sussex County detectives said that a female companion with Thomas Renee Bennett was also taken into custody and is currently charged with obstruction of justice.
The names of the Maryland women have not been released.
