VSP Investigating Fatal Shooting of Retired Trooper

MATHEWS, Va. (WRIC) - - Virginia State Police is investigating the shooting death of a recently retired VSP master trooper.

According to VSP Public Information Officer Sgt. Michelle Anaya, Master Trooper T.E. Hudson was found dead inside a residence in the 180 block of Ballast Point Road in Hudgins of Mathews County.

When deputies arrived, they found a deceased Hudson suffering from a gunshot wound inside a camper on the property of the residence.

Hudson's body has been transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Richmond for further examination and an autopsy.

Anaya said that Hudson had recently retired from the Virginia State Police but he was currently employed as a part-time deputy for the Mathews County Sheriff's Department.

Hudson joined the state police in 1988; he was assigned to Area 33 (part of the Chesapeake Division, including the counties of Mathews and Middlesex).


The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Chesapeake Field Office is in the process of reviewing the scene and working the investigation.
