Five Men Seriously Injured in I-64 Crash Thursday Morning

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -

Five men were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after the van they were traveling in on Interstate 64 in New Kent ran off the roadway and then caught fire.

Around 6:18 a.m. on August 7, a multi-passenger van was traveling east on Interstate 64 when it ran off the road into the woods, near the 206 mile marker.

Once it tumbled into the woods, the van caught fire. Five men inside the van were transported to VCU Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

All eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 reopened to through traffic as of 8:35 a.m.

Virginia State Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
