Police: Charges Pending Against Driver Involved in Fatal Hanover Accident

Posted: Updated:
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -

Police say charges are pending against the driver responsible for a deadly crash in Hanover County.

It's a crash that has a family preparing for a father's funeral and praying for his children's recovery.

"It was tragedy. I don't know how else to explain it," said Kevin McLaughlin, who witnessed the awful aftermath on Tuesday afternoon. He's still shaken by yesterday's fatal crash. It happened in front of a Ford dealership on Route One, where employees scrambled to help the victims. One woman did CPR, others called 911 and offered comfort.

“The humanity I saw was unbelievable,” said McLaughlin. I had a number of employees that were helping these individuals and complete strangers came to the rescue of these people. It was touching to say the least."

41 year old Floyd Robinson Jr. died in the accident. His two kids, an 11-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter are hospitalized with serious injuries.

Hanover County Sheriff's investigators say the family was in their car waiting to make a left hand turn, when the driver of a gray van rear ended them. All three victims were ejected from the car. None of them was wearing seatbelts.

Charges are pending against the driver responsible for the crash. More information on those charges could be available later this week.
