Updated:

Jason Myers joined the 8News Stormtracker team after working as a meteorologist in Abilene, Texas. Coming from the Lonestar state, he gained plenty of experience tracking severe weather. From tornados to hurricanes, Jason knows the importance of giving viewers accurate and dependable information.

Jason holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology with a communication concentration from North Carolina State University. His interest in weather began in the third grade when he made a weather station for a science project. In high school, Jason decided he wanted to become a broadcast meteorologist, combining his love for both people and weather.

Besides working as a meteorologist, Jason has also worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport as a weather observer. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.

In addition to being a meteorologist, you may also find Jason reporting on a news story or sharing traffic reports for 8Nnews during the week.

A North Carolina native, Jason enjoys calling Richmond home and the beauty Virginia has to offer. When not spending time tracking the weather, Jason enjoys exploring Virginia with his wife and kids, and playing tennis.  Jason and his family are active members of Swift Creek Baptist Church in Midlothian.
