Nate Eaton joined 8News in January of 2009.
During his time in Richmond, he has covered several high profile stories...including the execution of the DC sniper, an historic 2011 earthquake that rocked the east coast, and the aftermath of the Virginia Tech shootings.
Nate was one of the only journalists in the Outer Banks as the eye of Hurricane Irene made landfall. He's reported on tornados, severe snow storms, flash flooding, and intense wild fires. He spent five days covering the massive search for a missing autistic child and was one of the first to report on the tragic murder of a UVA women's lacrosse player.
Nate is a regional Edward R. Murrow Award winner and has won nearly a dozen other awards.
The Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters honored him with the "Outstanding Effort by an Individual Reporter" meritorious award in both 2009 and 2010.
His stories have aired nationally on CNN, FOX News, "The Early Show" on CBS, "Good Morning America," "Anderson Cooper 360," "Dr. Phil," "Nancy Grace," and "The Doctor's."
Before coming to 8News, Nate reported and anchored for KIDK in Idaho Falls, Idaho where he was awarded "Rookie Reporter of the Year" by the Idaho Press Club.
Nate grew up near Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He is an Eagle Scout, served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Australia, and is very active in his church.
You may have seen Nate jogging on the streets of Richmond as he enjoys running and has completed several races...including the Richmond Marathon (twice!).
Nate married his sweetheart in April 2011. They honeymooned in Los Angeles - where he was called to be a contestant on "The Price is Right." The Eaton's enjoy traveling, cooking, playing games, and their Sunday night tradition of making popcorn and smoothies!
