High pressure has begun building in to the region in the overnight hours as seen by the decrease in cloud cover from Wednesday afternoon. Expect mostly sunny skies across the region today with some fair weather clouds moving through during the afternoon hours. Winds out of the east off of the Atlantic and Chesapeake will keep temperatures checked in the lower 80s. As high pressure locates overhead and eventually off the east coast we will begin to see those temperatures slowly rise back into the 90s come the end of the weekend and next week. Speaking of the weekend, conditions are looking fantastic. Both Saturday and Sunday you can expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Come Sunday afternoon there could be a hit or miss thunderstorm but nothing to hamper any outdoor activities. The dry and quiet pattern hangs on right into next week before the summer heat boils over to afternoon thunderstorms developing in the afternoon hours from Tuesday onwards. By the way, summer officially begins very early Friday morning when the summer solstice occurs at 1:04AM. Have a great day!
