Allie Barefoot joined the 8News team as a multimedia journalist in May 2022.
She graduated from James Madison University (Go Dukes!) in May 2021 with a B.S. in Media Arts and Design, with a concentration in journalism and a double-minor in sports communication and writing, rhetoric and technical communication.
Before moving to Richmond during the pandemic, Allie grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. At 18-years-old, she started as an on-air personality on the Greg Roberts Live Show, an AP Award-winning sports radio talk show in Roanoke. From there, she reported on nearly every JMU sport during her four years of college. She has covered events such as the Washington Commanders training camp and the FCS Football National Championship in Frisco, Texas.
After graduation, Allie worked in Secaucus, New Jersey, as a broadcast assistant for the NBA.
Allie is an avid Washington Commanders fan who also loves the Yankees and Knicks. You can find Allie hanging out with her cat, Luna, or at Richmond’s social spots outside of work. If you see her in RVA, please say hi!
