Autumn Childress joined 8news as a morning reporter in May 2020.
Autumn grew up in the Richmond area and attended Midlothian High School. She graduated from Longwood University (Go Lancers!) in 2018 with a degree in Communication Studies. She played D1 basketball for the Lancers for four years, breaking the school’s record for the most double-doubles in a single season.
Before returning to Richmond, Autumn spent two years as a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor at WHSV in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
She is ecstatic to be back in her hometown, and even more excited to be at the station where her mom, Gwen Williams, was an anchor for 17 years.
When she is not on air, Autumn enjoys working out, listening to music, hiking and playing cards.
She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, and the National Association of Black Journalists.
