
Cheyenne Pagan joined the 8News team as a reporter in May of 2023. She comes from WRIC’s sister station WNCT in Greenville, North Carolina, where she was a multimedia journalist in its Jacksonville bureau for two years.
During her time in Jacksonville, Cheyenne covered everything from President Biden’s visit to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, the Down East plane crash that killed eight people and the conviction of Earl Kimrey for his role in the death of 3-year-old Mariah Woods.
Cheyenne was born and raised in the central Florida area. She loves to tell stories and knew very early on in life she was going to be a journalist.
She graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications in December 2020. She also interned at the ABC affiliate WFTS in Tampa and anchored/reported a news brief called “Florida Focus” for the PBS affiliate in Tampa.
She received the Best Online Story award at the Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists 2020 Griot Drum Award ceremony for a project she worked on about the first Black mayor of Sarasota.
