David Flynt joined WRIC as a news producer in June 2021. Prior to his role as a producer, David was the station’s master control operator from September 2019 to April 2021. His first role at WRIC, though, was as a college intern a few years before. In these roles, David says he learned the ins and outs of the local TV news industry.
David graduated from Elon University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in political science. He was a Communications Fellow; Vice President of his campus faith group; a regular on-camera analyst for One on One Sports, a weekly student-run sports debate show; and an announcer for what is now Elon Sports Vision as well as the campus radio station, WSOE.
He earned a third-place Collegiate Emmy as part of the crew that broadcast Elon’s first-ever conference championship.
David has lived in Chesterfield County most of his life and when he’s not at work you’ll find him at a racetrack or at home watching NASCAR, listening to music or finding new restaurants to try. He’s excited to help bring the News Where You Live to Richmond-area viewers.
