John Rogers joined the 8News family in January 2020 as the co-anchor for Good Morning Richmond.
He joined WRIC from its sister station, WFLA in Tampa, Florida, where he spent nearly seven years as a fill-in anchor and a Sarasota bureau reporter.
John also worked as a fill-in anchor/reporter at WALA in Mobile, Alabama and a weekend anchor/reporter for WCTV in Tallahassee, Florida.
Over the course of his career, John feels privileged to have had the chance to witness history. John was in Washington D.C. for the 2009 Obama inauguration. He was also on the front lines when oil washed ashore during the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. He covered the Parkland massacre, FSU shooting and countless tornadoes, tropical storms and hurricanes.
He’s interviewed political figures like John McCain and sports figures like Nick Saban and Shaquille O’Neal. One of his fondest experiences was meeting Neil Armstrong and interviewing Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon.
John grew up in a military family. He was born and raised in the country of Panama and moved around the U.S. He even spent time in the Commonwealth, growing up in Fairfax County.
John is a proud graduate of Florida State University who loves roller coasters, history and exploring the outdoors.
John and his wife, Katrin, are excited to call Richmond home! If you ever see him around, please say hello!
