Julia Heimlich joined 8News in June 2019, just a few days after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a degree in broadcast journalism and criminology and criminal justice. She grew up in Potomac, Maryland, right outside D.C., and Richmond has quickly become a place she calls home.
Julia’s passion for journalism dates back to elementary school when she cranked out bylines for her fifth-grade newspaper. She continued as a writer and editor for her high school paper and in college, she wrote for various newspapers and produced and directed her school’s student-run newscast.
Julia absolutely loves living in Richmond. She enjoys trying new restaurants and breweries with friends on the weekends, visiting museums and cafes and exploring new neighborhoods. From festivals to farmers’ markets, Julia loves that there’s always something going on in the city.
