Sara Dignan joined WRIC-TV as a producer in July 2017.
Sara was born in West Virginia and raised in Maryland, but she’s excited to call Virginia her new home. Sara grew up in Cumberland, Maryland and attended the University of Maryland. She graduated Cum Laude in May 2017 with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Government & Politics.
In college, Sara worked as a reporter and producer for the campus TV station, CNS-TV. She was awarded two Student Production Awards from The Emmys for her work with CNS.
Sara discovered her passion for TV news during her first internship at WHAG-TV in Hagerstown, Maryland. She went on to intern at the NBC News Washington Bureau, where she assisted in the network’s coverage of the 2016 presidential election. She also interned in the radio department at Country Music Television in Nashville, Tennessee, where she helped produce CMT’s nationally syndicated radio shows. In addition, Sara worked as a Collegiate Correspondent and produced multimedia content for USA Today. During her last semester of college, she interned with WJLA-TV’s Good Morning Washington.
Sara enjoys exploring Central Virginia, going to concerts, trying new restaurants in Richmond, and walking her Goldendoodle.
