Tyler Thrasher is the Digital Executive Producer for 8News.
Tyler joined 8News from VCU in 2018 after graduating with a Broadcast Journalism Degree. Although spending most of his college career as a local bartender, Tyler interned at WRIC-TV in 2016.
Also affectionately known as, “Thrash” — he reported throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Richmond social justice movements, presidential and gubernatorial elections, as well as extensive coverage in the efforts to change hazing laws in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Since joining 8News in 2018, Tyler has worked multiple positions in the newsroom; — from video editor and photojournalist to television reporter and high school sports co-anchor.
Now, he leads the 8News Digital Team.
Tyler has many hobbies like writing music, playing soccer, writing mental health articles, taking care of plants and playing with his dog, Bella.
