17th Annual Dog & Jog 5k Run

RICHMOND, Va(WRIC) — Dozens laced up their sneakers and leashed up their dogs Saturday morning for the annual Dog Jog & 5K Run on Hermitage Road.

This year 1,161 people registered for the event including 527 5K runners and 634 dogs for the 1 mile Dog Jog.

This is the seventeenth year for the fundraiser, benefiting the Richmond SPCA.

“It’s a great opportunity for those who may have not visited our adoption center to come and visit with some wonderful homeless animals  who are awaiting homes here at the Richmond SPCA,” said Tamsen Kingry, Cheif Operating Officer & CEO Elect of Richmond SPCA. ” It’s a wonderful day for the whole family.”

The preliminary fundraising total is more than $189,000.

Gifts can still be made online to support all of the Richmond SPCA’s lifesaving programs and services.

This year’s goal is to surpass the 2018 fundraising total of $192K.
