RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Dominion Energy is teaming up with Project Homes for a ‘100 Homes for 100 Veterans’ EnergyShare weatherization event on Tuesday.

During the event, Dominion Energy volunteers will undertake efforts to weatherize and implement safety measures at a transitional home serving military veterans.

Among the tasks being performed by volunteers will be air sealing, insulation, and other measures to make the property more energy efficient and safe. The home being weatherized is owned by Richmond-based nonprofit Hand Up Resource Center.

The 100 Homes for 100 Veterans Project is a joint initiative by Dominion and the Department of Veteran Services to provide the Commonwealth’s heroes with home weatherization and other improvement upgrades.

Dominion Energy is looking for more veterans in need who might benefit from this initiative. If you are a veteran or know of a veteran who needs help, call 211 for the qualifications. Submissions are taken on a rolling basis.

Veterans chosen to participate will receive free energy efficiency upgrades to their homes to help them better manage their energy use and increase savings on their energy bills. Projects may also include other home repairs and special needs to improve safety and comfort in the home.
