NHRA Nationals roar into Virginia Motorsports Park this weekend


DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Dinwiddie is the place to be for speed lovers this weekend.   It’s the Virginia NHRA Nationals.  It is the eighth of 24 events during the 2019 NHRA season.  Making its first appearance at the track since 2009, the 2018 race drew sold-out crowds.While attending the NHRA Virginia Nationals, fans will find many improvements made to Virginia Motorsports Park including upgraded grandstands, new lighting, remodeled restroom facilities as well as improvements made to the entrance and parking areas.

The top stars in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will compete for the coveted Wally trophy at a facility highly-regarded for its fast conditions. Driver Shawn Langdon stopped by the 8news studios to tell us about the weekend.  He’s one of only 17 drivers to ever take first place in both the Top Fuel and Funny Car categories.  You can learn more about the weekend’s events here.
