Richmond, Va. (WRIC) — “For my birthday I want to help you,” wrote Sebastian Petroski.

The young man did not want gifts for his birthday.

Instead, he asked people to donate to the Chesterfield County Police Foundation.

Colonel Jeffrey S. Katz praised Petroski calling him his hero.

Petroski raised $250 to support personnel during times of need, Katz tweeted. Katz left everyone thinking about how he would reward a hero.

A birthday party was thrown for Sebastian as a way to thank him for his kindness.

Police officers and the Petroski family were able to enjoy some time together and eat cake. McGruff the Crime Dog was also at the party.
