RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond Police Department officer stepped up to help get a local elementary school painted before students return this fall.

Lt. Ronnie Armstead heard Patraic Hampton, a 5th grade teacher at Swansboro Elementary, needed some help. Hampton was Swansboro’s teacher of the year last year.

Lt. Armstead pitched in and picked up a paint roller Thursday to help get the basement ready for the 5th-graders.
