RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond City Sheriff’s Office partnered with Saint Paul’s Baptist Church over the weekend to host the inaugural ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’ event.
By having men wear women’s shoes for the walk, the goal was to raise awareness for domestic violence and sex assault.
The event aimed to spark conversation about the deeply personal topic and help survivors.
“Domestic violence has taken away a lot of our young people as well as individuals in marriages in homes and we want to make sure that they know we care about them and we want them to be equipped with all the resources and tools that they need to get out of situations.” — Antoinette Irving, City of Richmond Sheriff
