Valentine exhibit unzips secrets behind how we dress and what it says about us

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — “Dressing Identity” is a new exhibit at The Valentine that looks at what our clothes, uniforms and costumes say about us.   It features both a gallery of outfits and costumes as well as a behind the scenes area where members of the costume and textile team are working on the museum’s collections.   Visitors can watch as members of the museum’s Costume and Textile team catalog, mount, photograph, label and prepare artifacts for storage in the museum’s collection. The lab will provide museum attendees with an inside-look at how the Valentine’s historic objects are protected for generations to come. This part of the exhibition will provide our attendees with a look behind the scenes at how we do what we do.

Dressing Identity runs through January of 2020 at The Valentine.   You can learn more about the exhibit here.
