RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Come out and here Richard Louv talk about his books and help raise money for Children’s Hospital Foundation. A widely published journalist and author of nine books, Richard Louv is perhaps best known for Last Child in the Woods, his seventh book, in which he coined the term “Nature-Deficit Disorder.” In this landmark title, Louv describes the impact on individual health and the social fabric as children move indoors and away from physical contact with the natural world. He cites attention disorders, obesity, a dampening of creativity, and depression as consequences of a nature-deficient childhood. Inspired by his research for Last Child in the Woods, he co-founded and is chairman emeritus of the Children & Nature Network, an international movement to connect families and nature.
The luncheon is Thursday, April 25th. You can learn more here.
