12 year old wins over crowd with speech at local DNC watch party

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Democratic National Convention only caught a glimpse of the speech 12-year-old Elijah Coles had prepared speaking via satellite from a watch party at Buz and Ned’s in Henrico.

But don’t let his young age fool you: When he spoke Thursday night, he won over the hearts of the packed room at the restaurant.

“Hello America,” Elijah said as he addressed the DNC. “We are here to celebrate the next president of the United States, our first woman president, Hillary Clinton.”

It was a brief 15 seconds of fame at the DNC, but Elijah had more to say, so he delivered his speech to the crowd at the Restaurant.

He spoke about Hillary Clinton, her qualifications and background and spoke about her competitor, Donald Trump.

“Bullies who pick on everyone else don’t just affect the people he bullies he affects everyone around him,” he told the crowd.

Of course, he did not forget about Tim Kaine.

“It would be remiss of me not to mention Virginia’s own, our awesome Senator, Tim Kaine.”

At one point he even broke out in his own campaign song.

“Clinton and Kaine, a vote for them and you won’t be ashamed!” he chanted.

“Clinton and Kaine, a vote for them and you won’t be ashamed!”

Vivian Sullivan was there Thursday Night and said she was so impressed with Elijah’s speech.

“When he led the audience in the chant, I thought that was unbelievable,” Sullivan said. “You know fo12-year-old old to have that insight and presence of self I thought that was so amazing.”
