30-year tradition: Water-skiing Santa on the Potomac

News

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WRIC/WJLA) — A 30-year tradition drew large crowds and families to the Potomac River on Christmas Eve.

Santa, along with friends, put on a show at the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront for the 33rd consecutive year with an incredible water-skiing performance. ABC7, an 8News affiliate, spoke with families and children who braved the cold to enjoy the fun.

“To see Santa!” said 7-year-old Fiam Anderson.

Reindeer, elves and the gingerbread man all came out and showed off tricks in the water.

“I think we should go to the North Pole and see him instead on a winter day or something,” 5-year-old Odera Amaba to ABC7.

The stars of the show were undoubtedly the Grinch and of course, Jolly Old Saint Nick.

“Go! Go! Go, Grinch, go!” a 4-year-old girl named Anna screamed as her favorite character zipped by.

According to ABC7, Santa showed up just in time for the children’s last requests.
