(WRIC) — Citing potential for “rubber pieces that are translucent yellow with a blue backing” inside, the Nestlé Purina PetCare Company decided to voluntarily recall its Muse wet cat food Natural Chicken Recipe in Gravy three-ounce cans.
Nestlé Purina PetCare Company became aware of the rubber pieces inside the cans from complaints from pet owners. The announcement of the voluntary recall was made on the FDA website on Friday.
The company apologized for the recall but made clear that they have not received any notice of injury or illness to cats fed the product.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Nestlé Purina PetCare Company is voluntarily recalling a limited amount of Muse wet cat food Natural Chicken Recipe in Gravy in three-ounce cans,” the announcement read.
The company has already asked all retailers to remove the affected products from stores nationwide.
“We’re pet owners and pet lovers, and our number one commitment is the health and well-being of pets. We only want products that meet our high-quality standards in your pet’s bowl,” Nestlé Purina PetCare Company explained.
People with cats who may have concerns can identify the affected product in three ways: the UPC, production code and “Best By” date. Only the Natural Chicken Recipe in Gravy cans from variety packs are included in the recall.
