8News Investigates: Is your auto insurer skimping on repair jobs?


Let’s say your involved in a vehicle accident; Or maybe your car is sideswiped overnight. Insurance say they’ll cover the repairs, but do you trust them to order you new and reliable parts?

As 8News investigator Kerri O’Brien learned, more and more auto insurance companies are skimping repair jobs – and sometimes even your safety – by pushing mechanics to order what some call “junk yard,” or recycled parts.

A federal anti-trust lawsuit has even been filed, accusing insurance companies of urging auto body shops to use cheap parts.
