Body found behind burning Hanover County home

MONTPEILIER, Va. (WRIC) — Hanover authorities are conducting a death investigation after a man was found dead behind a burning home Thursday morning.

Hanover Fire crews responded to a home in the 15400 block of Long Row Drive, off of Goshen Road, for reports of a house fire just before 11 a.m. Thursday. Sheriff’s officer units also came to the scene, and discovered the adult male dead behind the residence, which was fully involved.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson said the man had apparently died from a gunshot wound.

It does not appear anyone else was in the home at the time of the fire, which has since been brought under control.

The sheriff’s office said they are not seeking any suspects in the man’s death. He has not yet been identified.
